Centres : Activities


a) Ashadeep (Permal Jyoti Society)

  • The centre offers youth education service and legal education and awareness programmes with a special focus on dalits; community organization and rural development, career guidance and ANKUR (preparing students for public administration and other govt. jobs)

b) Behavioural Science Centre (BSC)

  • Empowering the grassroots people by developing people’s organization; capacity building of primary level women’s and credit cooperative for economic empowerment; promoting child development centres as models of value based learning; empowering elected political representatives from scheduled castes for good governance, academic programmes, action studies, legal awareness programmes through dissemination of legal magazines and training and legal advocacy for socio-legal reforms.  

c) Navsarjan

  • Empowerment of the urban poor through organization, training, skills up gradation
  • Preventive and promotional health programs
  • Remedial education programs for street children, working children and children from the slums.
  • Legal education and free legal aid services.  

d) Nyay Darshan

  • Legal literacy campaign through schools, boardings, collages, universities, formation houses, training centres of NGOs; conducting para-legal training courses for social animators; publication of periodicals, leaflets on laws and legal issues; legal counseling to affected people; out of court settlement of cases, information service on laws, judgments and government welfare schemes; organizing socially committed lawyers at district, state and national levels to take up cases related to violations of human rights.

e) Prashant

  • Promotion of justice and human rights; advocacy on issues related to vulnerable and marginalized groups like adivasis, dalits and minorities; legal aid; support systems for victims of injustice and human rights violation; education and awareness programmes on citizenship and constitutional rights; training ?.,d documentation.

f) Rajpipla Social Service Society:

  • The centre works with the tribals (indigenous community) of South Gujarat in order to impart legal education and provide legal help, health education and empowerment of women, confidence building and leadership training for adivasi youth, raise critical awareness, impart cultural education, establish adivasi identity, cultivate a healthy political consciousness, help the adivasi community to know their rights, build self confidence and organize itself into a strong and effective movement, network with like-minded secular groups for communal harmony and human rights.

g) Sangath

  • Sangath works in order to support and help the development of marginalized women, Panchayatiraj and women’s empowerment, holistic perspective of comprehensive women’s health, awareness of human rights and legal aid, para legal training, youth training, micro credit for women, promotion of organic farming and vermiculture.

h) SHAKTI – Legal Aid and Human Rights Centre

  • The centre is committed to ensure that deprived and exploited communities become legally aware and exercise their rights. It offers legal education, assistance and guidance, human rights education, especial activities for children. In addition, it supports unorganized labourers and networking with many like-minded groups at various levels. Its Jai Adivasi calendar is very popular and also its para legal trainings that focus on adivasi identity, unity, culture, adivasi leadership and rights. LAHRC has promoted 7 people’s Organizations (Pos) called Adivasi Sarvangi Vikas Sanghs in two districts of Gujarat and got them federated into Adivasi Mahamandal, Gujarat.
