Aug. 2007-Oct.2011: over four years of dedicated service at JESA.

New Delhi: Hailing from the Jesuit Province of Kolkotta, Fr. Xavier built an extended national family of Jesuits and all those who share the vision and mission of Jesuits at JESA/SAPI (Jesuits in Social Action / South Asian Peoples' Initiatives). He is now moving on to still a larger world to build a global family.

His term at JESA/SAPI as Secretary was short but extremely meaningful. His work is widely recognized by the Jesuits and the secular groups as well. JESA / SAPI received a new outlook and direction with his dynamism, and organization and communication skills.

Fr. Walter Fernandes rightly said that it was not easy to be the JESA Secretary with no executive power. Undoubtedly, Fr. Xavier has the power to LOVE and SERVE, flowing from his faith and conviction. 'Strictness with kindness' is another secret that he followed to get his work done on time.

Having spent more than a year with him, I sincerely appreciate his humanism and professionalism. The Society of Jesus has rightly recognized his ability and caliber for the new post in Rome. Fr. Xavier will be leaving for Rome on January 6, 2012 and will be working as an Assistant to the Secretary at Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat in Roman Curia.
