GC 35: Its Challenges for JESA in South Asia

Objectives of this Convention :

  • To identify the challenges before Social Action Ministry in the light of GC 35 documents and emerging trends.
  • To assess the accountability structures and mechanisms that we have evolved over the years and what needs to be put in place to carry forward our mission.
  • To find ways and mechanisms for inter-ministerial assessment and collaboration, so that our Jesuit Identity and Mission are lived out in our concrete social reality of South Asia.

How to reach Don Bosco Institute?

 

From Guwahati Railway Station:

Take an auto and ask for ‘Don Bosco Institute’ in Joypur, Kharguli. The auto will go through Uzan Bazar. The cost is normally Rs. 60-70 and it takes around 15-20 minutes.  Please refer to the map above.

From Airport:

Take a shared taxi up to ‘Hotel Nandan’ in Pan Bazar. It costs Rs. 100/- only. From ‘Hotel Nandan’ take an auto to Don Bosco Institute in Joypur, Kharguli which is very close to the Railway station. The cost from Nandan to DBI is Rs. 60-70.

Direct taxi from Airport to DBI only for yourself would cost Rs. 500/-

A few more Points for you to know about Guwahati and North East:

    • The mobile phones subscribed in other states do not work in Assam and other North Eastern States.
    • In case you want to visit Shillong (Meghalaya) the cost of hiring a Sumo for the whole day would cost around Rs. 1200/- It takes 3 hours to go from Guwahati to Shillong by a private vehicle. It is impossible to go to Nagaland and return in one day. In case you are interested in going to these places you must have a few days as transport is quite difficult here. To visit Nagaland you require Inner Line Permit (ILP). Kindly contact Ravi Sagar in advance for acquiring ILP.
    • The weather in Guwahati in October is pleasant. You would not require any warm clothes, unless you are planning to visit some other places after the convention.
    • The place is booked from 13th morning till 17th morning. So if you reach on 13th morning, kindly go straight to the convention venue.  If you are planning to reach before 13th morning you need to make your own arrangement for the stay.     • Kindly look at the Draft Programme Schedule to know the assignments given to the individuals, Provinces and the Zones. Some of you are assigned with the responsibility of Eucharist, Prayer, Get together or as members of committees, chair person etc. To make our gathering more meaningful and enriching your generous help in all these responsibilities is deeply appreciated.
